🔥 The nights are drawing in, and there’s a fire waiting by the River Lea…
Cody Dock’s alternative Bonfire Night returns again this year, as The Nest Collective brings back its Campfire Club for a special edition. Instead of the usual fireworks and burning effigies, this is an invitation to gather around a big firepit, with live music, storytelling and a little food for thought.
Using the occasion to open up much-needed conversations, Nest are inviting attendees to reflect on the importance of political dissent in society, and to consider its power as a shaper of community and the future. Our old pal Guy Fawkes would have approved of this, we’re sure..
There'll be plenty to keep things lively, too! Bristolian folk trio Tarren will be treating us to their cittern and concertina, fiddle, and accordion music, dubbed “New-Folk”. London duo Ghuraba will be bringing the electric guitar and percussion instruments to create their “psychedelic melting pot”. The Fire Choir - as usual, open to all - offers the chance for some collective singing around the flames. Spoken word performances will come from poets Lalah-Simone Springer and George Parker.
If previous Campfire Club gatherings are anything to go by, this should be a pretty special seasonal atmosphere.
Campfire Club: Bonfire Night takes place at Cody Dock on Sat 7th Nov. Tickets and more info here.
