A Vigil for the River Lea
Hey All, keen to share an event - A Vigil for the River Lea - a free community event I’m organising with Surfers Against Sewage as part of its national Clean the Bill campaign.
Sunday 25 October, 5–7pm
Leaside, 34 Spring Lane, Hackney E5 9HQ
https://www.tickettailor.com/events/surfersagainstsewage1/2456378
The evening will bring together local stories, evidence, creativity, comedy and practical political action.
We’ll hear from people who know and care for the Lea, explore what is harming the river and who is responsible, and help residents lobby their MPs for a Clean Water Bill that genuinely protects people and nature.
We also have a special appearance from Fisherman Jon, the acclaimed persona of comedian Coral Bevan for a round of ‘What's On The End of My Rod?” - a live, glorious fishing game about sewage, spin, water bills, pollution and the things we are being asked to accept as normal.
All ages are welcome, no specialist knowledge is required, and the licensed bar will remain open after the event for anyone who wants to continue the conversation.
thanks
Matt
CIG
This looks fun - it was good to see some of you at the CIG yesterday and thanks Lanterna for the great pizzas!
Thanks for coming Chris Kennedy - was great to see you. An abundance of pizza and good community dialogue made for a very good evening. See you next time?
Survival of The Napier
What do you think about the threat to the Lord Napier pub that having residential units right up against its garden could bring? Have you signed the petition? Let us know your thoughts... and 30-mins of Lime bike credit is yours!
Glad to see the developer was batted off… for now. Makes complete sense that an existing business should be given the same respect and consideration that an existing residence should be. My experience with developers in the area has always been that they skirt the rules in ways that benefit them (like taking Napier noise readings mid week, knowing full well that weekends are the pub’s bread and butter).

Lime bikes are so fun
Happy to be here
Love this new development. Very happy to meet up with fellow Wickers. We offer T-shirt printing workshops for venues, offices, events. Hit me up if you want to talk
