Give us a snapshot of who you are and what your business does.

 I'm Jeremy Lively, and Australian-born DJ and producer. I started playing records over 20 years ago, moved into production and then started this business a few years back. I run Studio A08, a production facility that specialises in mixing and mastering. We also offer music production courses and certified tuition in Ableton Live, and we're an independent record label releasing emerging underground artists with a focus on drum-heavy breakbeat, tech house and melodic techno.

Tell us more about the music production process.

We offer stereo mastering, full stem mixing and mastering breakdowns, and standard consultations for producers looking to finish their tracks. For those looking to build their skills from the ground up or refine complex techniques, we run dedicated Ableton Certified production courses tailored for both beginners and advanced producers. In these sessions, we dive deep into the music production process—covering everything from sound design, arrangement, and groove creation to final polish and mix translation. Sessions can be held via video or in-person with me here in the studio. While high-fidelity video streaming makes remote sessions fast and convenient, working side by side in the studio really accelerates the learning process.

How does an average session with you work?

Well, we get people who want to come in and start a track from scratch, which I would say we can do together within a couple of two-hour sessions. But we also help a lot of producers who have some sort of creative ‘writer's block’ who come in here, sit down with me, and we work side by side to unblock their process and get their tracks accelerated to a finish.

What do you like about being located at Mainyard?

This is the first dedicated studio space I’ve had, so taking the plunge to build up my own business venture for the long term was a big step. Mainyard has proved a wonderful choice, as there’s a great community of like-minded producers here, all along the same corridor. One specialises in vocal production, so we’re currently talking about collaborating and how their vocals can come together with my beats, then there are photographers who can provide artist profile pictures, and other creates services all in the same building, too. As a home for the studio, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Any other collaborations or projects we should look out for?

I'm in a brand new partnership with The Faded Community, which is a really great community-led brand and agency, working with emerging DJs and producers. So we're partnering together for Studio A08 to provide mixing and mastering and artist development help across their community.
